CHESHIRE OSET CUP ROUND 5 REPORT & VIDEO
Round 5 of the 2019, 2 Machs Motorcycles, Cheshire, Oset Cup returned to one of it’s best venues on October 21st. Nant Ucha farm, based in Trevor nr Llangollen hosted the championship for the second time this season. It’s rocks, streams, logs, banks and roots gave the 48 riders some real challenges for the day. The popular practice venue makes for some good sections.
Joe Stubbings returned to winning ways taking the expert class win with an impressive 8 mark loss for the day. Jess Widdowson and Aidan Williams had a close finish for second place with Jess taking the honours on 25 from Aidan on 27. Section 4 saw some rocks and turns in the stream taking a good amount of the marks for the day in the expert class. Owen Good closed the gap to the podium finishers taking fourth place on 33 marks.
The C class Inters saw Isaac Tilson continue his great run of victories. Just 12 marks lost over what was a challenging course. Two 5s on section 3 were the biggest blot on Isaacs score card. The rocks and roots on a tricky turn took marks on this section. Oscar Pattinson closely followed on 15 marks in second place with Lewis Freeman taking the final podium spot on 20. Reuben Rustage dropped just five marks to win the C class novices for the day.
The large D class Inters was a close run thing with Demsey Pickup having an excellent ride dropping just two odd marks for the day. Joel Isherwood followed on 5 single dabs spread across a variety of the sections. Young Zach Reynolds continues to gain momentum finishing in third place on 26, even having a go at a scary looking shoulder high log pile after the trial had finished.
Michael Thomas won the D class novice route on just 3 marks for the day, two of which on the tricky turn in section one. Ted Jones was second in the class on 7 marks lost. Close behind was Connor Thompson on 8. Rylan Pickup and Cerys Good followed on 9 marks with Rylan taking fourth place by way of “most cleans”. Well done to all, the D class novice always attracts a large number of riders so finishing anywhere in the top 10 is a great achievement.
Tomos Reese showed his form again in the E class novices, winning the class on 9 marks from Jay Hanmer on 40. Charlie O’Reilly brought it home in third place on 55. I’m also proud to say that Hudson Shoesmith, son of the late TT racer Paul Shoesmith, took part and finished his first ever trial with us on Sunday. Having some great rides in his first attempt well done Hudson it looks as though the motorcycling dynasty is set to continue!!
Once again thanks to all those who turned out to observe, the day simply can’t run without these people, and to Matt for his help marking the sections on Saturday afternoon.
The final round of the 2018 championship returns to where it all started at round 1, Alvanley trials ground, near Frodsham hosts the event on November 25th. We look forward to seeing you all there please see below for a video link of round 5.
