2016 Cheshire Oset Cup round 5. Results, video & Report
The 2 Machs Motorcycles, Cheshire, Oset Cup 2016 series continued with round 5 taking place at the Alvanley trials ground, near Frodsham, on September 18th. 52 riders, all on electric trials machines, were greeted with great weather and dry ground conditions to heavily modified venue. 5 sections were tackled four times each with novice, intermediate and expert routes catered for.
Jack Long returned to the expert series, for a one-off ride sharing an Oset 20 with brother Sam, and took the class win. A good result for Jack considering he has been campaigning a petrol Beta recently, the transition from petrol to electric sometimes isn’t an easy one. Ethan Richardson, improves every round and, finished just six marks behind Jack in second place. Championship leader Stefan Jones backed up his season so far with a third place.
Youth C Inters finished with an “all clean” tie at the top of the score sheet. Callum Heath and Aidan Williams taking the shared honours. Gethin Beech-Jones returned to the series and only dropped one costly 5 on the bank and concrete pipe of section four to finish in third. Dan Douglas was just one mark further back in fourth place.
Youth C Novice was split by most cleans with Keeva Wilcock picking herself up from a brake lever breaking crash to drop 16 marks. Isabel Skehan had her best ride of the year, having taken to trials in april, to finish in second place. Jake Horrocks followed in third place on 23.
After moving up to the Inters route at the last round Joe Stubbings impressively took his first win in the class, finishing all clean. Molly Barber followed dropping a single mark on the rocks of section one. Joe Powell and Joe Chard both rode well dropping just two marks all day, with Powell taking third place by way of furthest “one”. In fact, considering the difficulty of the route this class was exceptional with the top 7 riders all finishing on less than 10 marks.
Owen Good continued his Youth D Novice championship aspirations with a clean sheet to win the class, great riding in his first year of trials. Sam Long followed on three marks lost, with Isaac Tilson completing the podium on 8. Milly Powell, second in the championship, followed on 9 marks to finish fourth.
Youth E is having an encouraging surge in entry numbers with 9 riders in the class on Sunday. Always great to see the four year olds taking to trials. Zach Reynolds won the class on 34 marks. Seth Graham followed on 60 closely followed by Theo Bottle just one mark further back. Newcomer Charlie Brookfield, gave his new Oset 16R a batism of fire to finish in fourth place in his first ever trial.
Another successful trial completed, well done to all the riders, a big thank you to those who gave their time to observe. Just two rounds now remain of the 2016 series as the championship returns to Alvanley on October 16th.
