2016 Cheshire Oset Cup Round 3, Report, Results and Video
With the youth trials season now well into it’s stride, the 2 Machs Motorcycles, Cheshire, Oset Cup visited the Alvanley trials ground, near Frodsham, for the third round of the championship. A nice sunny day and grippy ground greeted 42 riders of all ages and abilities.
The expert class was won by the talented Steffan Jones losing 7 marks for the day, 5 of which were on the tight turns and step up of section four. Ethan Richardson followed on 28 marks, a great effort in his first Expert class ride. Will Hughes continues to impress with his “all action” style in third place.
Callum Heath had the perfect start, after upgrading to a new Oset 20 Racing, by winning the C class Inters on three marks. Ever improving Ellie Molyneaux dropped the same but, with more cleans to his card, Callum took the overall win. Connor Woodman showed huge improvement, finishing in third place, on nine marks. Without a couple of “threes”, one on the concrete pipe of section one and the other on the cambered turn of section 5, his result would’ve been equal to the winners – well done!
Aidan Williams dropped just a solitary dab in the C class Novices, a great ride, perhaps a move up to the Inters class beckons for the lad who was new to trials a few months ago. Keeva Wilcock followed on 28 marks, with the twists and turns of section one taking a couple of “fives”. James Wyatt completed the podium on 38 marks, a good result having only ridden in a few trials. Long term observer Isobel Skehan took on her first Cheshire Cup trial after inheriting older Brother, Kieran’s, Oset 20. A good start finishing in 5th place, even taking a couple of cleans!
The D class Inters win was taken by young Ellis Barton dropping just 2 marks all day, very impressive given some of the loose turns in the route. Ellis practiced some of the Expert route at the end of the trial and looked to be coping well too. Oli Arkwright followed on five marks, the Heysham lad continues to impress in only his second season. Jess Widdowson and Joe Chard drew on 6 marks with Jess taking third place by “furthest clean”.
Owen Good jumped on a borrowed bike for the day and promptly had his best ride of the series so far. 5 marks lost and a win in the D class Novices. Joe Stubbings followed just one mark further back, with Milly Powell and Jobe Griffiths close behind on 14 marks. Harry Willbourn (kindly lent his bike to the eventual winner) had a good ride and continues to improve, finishing fifth on 22 marks.
The E class Novice was a closely fought affair. Theo Bottle took the win, losing 57 marks, on his Oset 16R. Oliver Critchley followed just one mark further back and showed a huge improvement with no help from Dad all day! Seth Graham finished third in his first ever trial.
All in all another great event in the sunshine, plenty of smiling, goals achieved, and fun, which after all is what motorcycling is all about.
The series now has a short wait for round four, July 10th is the date for your diary, at the popular summer venue Hales Bike and Board park in Harthill, near Chester. See you there.
