Cheshire Oset Cup 2017 Round 5
Cheshire Oset Cup 2017 Round 5
Alvanley trials ground hosted round 5 of the 2017, 2 Machs Motorcycles, Cheshire, Oset Cup on sept 24th. Some recent heavy rain was expected to have effected the ground conditions for the all-electric series. But the sun came out on the day and the Sandy banks were perfect.
A close fought Expert class was won by Ethan Richardson on 23 marks, snapping at his heels was championship contender Ellis Barton just one mark further back. Section one included a slippy log, bank and tight turn which took a good amount of marks from everybody in the class on the day. Jess Widdowson took the final podium spot on 4o marks lost as she continues to improve after stepping up to the Experts this season.
C class intermediates championship leader Aidan Williams took the win on 15 marks but was closely followed with a great ride from Joe Powell on 18 marks. Jack Edwards followed on 21, chased by Ewan White on 28 marks. Section 2 was a tricky one for the Inters, twists and turns on sand with a root-covered bank to start and finish made things interesting for the riders.
Jake Horrocks took his new Oset 24 to the win in the C Class Novices on 11 marks. Lucy Baker was another rider breaking in a new Oset 24, taking 2nd place, on 13 marks in her first visit to the series. Lennon Weeder completed the podium, dropping the same marks as Lucy but losing out by way of most cleans. Great rides for all in this growing class.
D class Inters ace Joe Stubbings had a near perfect ride to win the class on just one solitary dab all day. Owen Good followed on 17 marks, closely followed by his riding mate Isaac Tilson on 18. Some real talent is beginning to come through in what appeared to be a tough trial. As with the C class inters, section 2 was the tester but the ride of the day (closely followed by the “fist-pump of the day” from Dad) came from young Zach Reynolds who is the only Intermediate on an Oset 16. He rode to two fantastic cleans, the only other riders to clean the section were the top twoin the class.
Dyfan Smith won the D class novice and it gets no better than an all-clean score card. Dempsey Pickup followed on just 3 marks for the day with Connor Thompson taking third on 7. Lukas Longshaw is clearly settling into his new 20R finishing in fourth on 9 marks.
Rylan Pickup won the E class novices with just a single three on the turn and bank of section one, a great ride. Logan Price continues to improve taking second place on 6 marks. Ioan Lloyd completed the podium on 19. Well done to all.
The series now moves onto, a new venue to us, Nant Ucha farm in Trevor, nr Llangollen hosts round 6 on October 22nd.
