2016 Cheshire Oset Cup Round 4, Report, Results & Video

July 10th saw round 4 of the 2 Machs Motorcycles, Cheshire, Oset Cup return to Hales bike and board park in Harthill, nr Chester. A nice day, one of very few this summer so far, greeted the 46 riders and their families. 5 sections were marked out in fairly overgrown conditions, using the natural terrain of the downhill course alongside some more man-made areas too.

Will Hughes took his maiden win in the expert class, an excellent ride, dropping his biggest score on the tight-turn and loose bank of section 3. There was some really tight turns on the day, Will is well known for his all-action style but he calmed things down for an impressive finish. Just 2 marks further back was series leader Steffan Jones followed by the ever improving Ethan Richardson.

C Class Intermediate class was won by a good ride from Callum Heath, with section 3 proving just as difficult for the inters too. Callum lost 14 marks on the day, 12 of which were on section 3! Aidan Williams didn’t let stepping to the harder route faze him taking second place on 20 marks. Connor Woodman showed huge improvement finishing in third place, just 2 marks from second, even more impressive considering he was riding with a broken toe (everyone knows that football is a dangerous sport Connor!).

Keeva Wilcock had a great day winning the C Class Novices on just 2 marks, a big improvement in Keeva’s first season of trials. James Wyatt followed on 23 marks, the twists and turns of section five proving difficult for the youngster. Jake Horrocks completed the podium on 29 marks lost.

Ellis Barton had an absolutely storming ride in the D Class Inters. Where others struggled on the nemesis that was section 3, Ellis flew through without dropping a mark. Winning the class on just 5 marks for the day, the lowest score of anyone on the yellow route in all age groups, congratulations Ellis. Joe Drysdale drove down from Scotland for the event, taking second spot from Joe Powell,  both riders on 19 marks, but Drysdale with the most number of cleans. Jess Widdowson and Joe Chard battled it out for fourth sport with Jess pipping Joe by just one mark. Joe Stubbings made the move into the intermediate class and immediately mixed it with the front runners, finishing in sixth place on 28 marks.

ast time out Harry Willbourn was awarded the “Merit of the Day” award for his ever-smiling attitude and obvious enjoyment of riding his bike. This round he took his first ever win in the D class Novices, dropping 3 marks for the day. Closely followed by Milly Powell, just one mark further back. Owen Good had a costly five on section 5, his only marks lost all day to finish in an impressive third place. Indeed the top five riders all finished on under 10 marks. Archie Lowe was close to the podium on 7 marks and Jobe Griffiths, adapting well to his new 20 lite dropped 10 to finish in 5th.

Zach Reynolds, a newcomer to the series, showed his natural trials talent in his first ever event. Winning the E class novices on 26 marks. Oliver Critchley and Theo Bottle battled it out for second place with Oliver taking the position by just one dab on 64 marks.

Izzy and Austin Cruickshank both had a go at the trial in their respective classes. A tall order when they only started riding two weeks ago. We look forward to seeing them progress through the rest of the season.
