Cheshire Oset cup Round 2
Cheshire Oset Cup Round 2
The second round of the 2 Machs Motorcycles, Cheshire, Oset Cup 2018 series was held in bright sunshine on sunday May 13th. A new venue to the championship was very welcoming, Nant Ucha Farm, near Llangollen hosted the all-electric youth series. 48 riders took to the roots, banks, streams and logs with the section setters being spoilt for choice with so much natural trials terrain to choose from. 5 sections, for each class, were tackled 4 times each for all levels of ability from raw novice through to Expert.
Ellis Barton and Joe Stubbings continue their battle for supremacy in the Expert class. Joe took the win in round 1 but Ellis fought back this time to win by just two marks with a drop of 16. All-action Kai Fairhurst followed in 3rd place, just one mark ahead of the ever-improving Owen Good and Scottish champion Jack Gould. The turns in the stream of section one took most of the marks from the class.
Isaac Tilson, got lost on the way to the venue arriving five minutes before the start but it didn't stop him having a great ride to win the C Class Inters with just 5 marks lost all day. Liam Campbell followed on 7 marks with just one costly 5 in the stream section blotting an otherwise fantastic scorecard. Molly Barber continued a good run in the championship with a strong 3rd place on 8 marks. Lucy Baker stepped up to the Inters route and impressed with a 4th place on 20 marks.
Reuban Rustage took the C class Novice win on 11 marks from Luke Robinson-Gerard on 18. Good riding from both.
Dempsey Pickup returned to form to win the D class Inters with just a solitary mark dropped. Joel Isherwood followed on 4 marks. Dyfan Smith had a great ride to complete the podium with a 19 mark loss.
The D class Novices win was taked by Connor Thompson on just a single dab, again, in the stream of section one. Ted Jones and Ben Whitehouse followed both dropping 5 marks with Ted taking the 2nd place by way of most cleans. Michael Thomas followed only one mark further back in fourth place. Cerys Good continues to improve, losing 10 marks for the day to finish in 5th place. Charlie Brookfield and Luca Lanzi both had excellent personal best performances and stepped up the field by a good margin.
The youngest class of the championship, E class Novice, was won by Tomos Reese on 25 marks. Louse Barton, following in big brother Ellis' footsteps chased home a second place on 42. Ethan Collier completed the class podium on 82.
Another successful round of the popular series finished. Smiles all around, kids riding bikes and sunshine, not much else to be said. Thanks to all those who took their time to help out and observe the sections. Also thanks to Matt Barber for his help marking the sections on Saturday afternoon.
