Cheshire Oset Cup Round 4, Report, Result & Video

After the summer holiday break round 4 of the 2 Machs Motorcycles, Cheshire, Oset Cup took place on Sunday September 23rd. Fortunately the weather was much kinder than the forecasters predicted with only a splash of rain coming early in trial. 49 riders competed on the banks and pipes of Harthill Adventure Park, usually reserved for downhill mountain bike/boaders.

Aidan Williams showed his class once again to win the Expert route on the day. Just a solitary five on the turn/sharp bank of section three blotted an otherwise faultless ride. Jess Widdowson had a great ride finishing in second place on 17 marks. Brilliant to see Jess doing so well, she has grown up throughout the series from riding a 12.5 in the Novices at our first ever trial in 2014 to challenging at the top class four seasons later. Edwyn Jones made the most of his drive up from the South to finish just two marks adrift of Jess in third place.

Isaac Tilson had an impeccable ride dropping just 3 marks to take the C class inters win.  A tricky banked turn on section two took all of his marks on an otherwise clean ride. Lucy Baker continues to improve, riding her Oset 24 into second place overall on 24 marks, after taking the step up to Inters this year. Bobby Kay had an impressive ride, a big improver this season, to take the last podium spot on 28 marks.

Reuban Rustage took the C class Novice win and is now unstoppable in the 2018 title challenge.

Joel Isherwood dropped just a single mark on the turns/bumps of section 1 to win the D class Inters, well done! Dempsey Pickup followed on 13 marks with a couple of costly fives on section 3. Joel and Dempsey look set to battle out for the championship title in the next couple of rounds. Young Zach Reynolds completed the podium after a summer riding his TY80 he took back to the Oset with style. Dyfan Smith came home fourth on the same score as Zach with Reynolds taking the place by means of highest number of cleans.

Rylan Pickup came back to the series after missing round 3 with concussion from a BMX racing crash. What a return it was too, an almost perfect score, one solitary mark dropped on section 4 was enough to take the victory in D class Novice. Hot on his heels was another improving rider, Ben Whitehouse dropped 2 marks to finish in second. Connor Thompson completed the podium on 3 marks, well done.

The E class Novices was won by Tomos Reese who has a perfect score of 4 wins out of 4 in the 2018 series so far. Jay Hanmer followed on 62 marks with Charlie O’Reilly closely behind on 69.

Two rounds of the championship are now left to run, which now come in quick succession. Nant Ucha Farm hosts round five on October 21st. Followed by round six at Alvanley on November 26th.. We look forward to seeing another good entry and smiling faces at both! Finally we would like to say a big thankyou to those who took their time to observe the sections and to Matt Barber for his help marking the route on Friday evening.
