2 Machs Motorcycles, Cheshire, Oset Cup Round 7, Results, Report & Video

The finale of the 2 Machs Motorcycles Cheshire Oset Cup returned to the popular Hales Superbole Mountain bike and Board centre in Harthill near Chester. With high winds and heavy rain weather warnings issued a brave 40 riders took part. Pleasantly surprised that the weather turned out much better than expected with the rain staying away until after the trial had finished.

As normal three routes were catered for, novice, intermediate and expert in the five sections each completed 4 times. A deserved championship winner, Kieran Skehan, was back to winning ways again in the Expert class, the only blot on his scorecard being a fall on the final section of the day. Steffan Jones had a great ride, finishing just three marks further back in second place. Earning him the runner-up spot in the series. Dan Leadbetter followed in third. Young Dylan Hayes, fourth on the day, rounded his 2015 series up third in the championship.

Connall Wilcock won the class C inters on the day on just 16 marks, most of which on the sand turns and steps on section one. A great rider, surely to move into the challenge of the experts next year. Dan Douglas, runner up in the 2015 series, finished his day in second place just 7 marks behind. Cumbrian, Jack Long was absent on the day but a perfect score for the rest of the year earned him the overall championship win.

Harvey Davies, in his first season of trials, polished up the championship win with another great ride. Dropping just four marks in the D class inters ahead of the impressive Alfie Hoyles. Alfie finished runner up on the day, losing 10 marks, and was the runner up in the championship too. Ethan Richardson joined the series for the first time, dropping just one more mark than Alfie to take the last podium spot. Certainly a rider to watch for the future. The whole of this class shows great depth with 9 riders losing 16 marks or under. A good batch look to be moving into the Experts for next season. Molly Barber took her first step up from the Novice route, a sign of her intentions for next season, a good score of 20 marks earned her 10th spot on the day.

Dylan Ratcliffe, a trials newcomer at round 2, was the only rider to keep a clean score card all day and as a result won the D class Novices. Finishing just 4 points down on the 2015 champion Ellis Barton. Ellis had a great ride on the day, a squashed marker on section five and a single dab all day being his only losses. A well earned champion, new to trials at the start of the year Ellis has seen huge and very fast improvement. Leo Clough took up trials in July this year and took his first podium with a brilliant ride to finish one mark behind Ellis. Oli Arkwright narrowly missed the top three in what is a large class with a good amount of runners ready for the step up to inters for next season. Zane Stout finished the day in fifth place, rounding up a good year 3rd in the championship.

Corey Shepherd completed his series with a hat trick of wins, dropping just 5 marks in the E class novices. The championship winner Jobe Griffiths on his Oset 16 was 4th on the day, a great little rider. Toby Tyson nearly didn’t make it having car trouble on his way down from Barrow-in-furness, but got stuck in a little late to finish in second place. Bailey Holmes has adapted really well to his 16 Racing and finished in third on the day and third overall in 2015.

All in all a great ending to the 2015 series. It has been brilliant to see all of the riders improve throughout the championship. Some have stepped up to harder routes in the mid-season. Others have taken to larger machines with ease. Congratulations to all!

Plans are taking shape for a practice trial and 2015 awards presentation early in the new year before the 2016 series gets underway in march. To get involved in the series please contact Ian Mackman at 2 Machs Motorcycles, ian@2machsmotorcycles.com
