The 2013 supersport 600 TT

Ian’s history saw him race a large variety of machines from RD350LC, RS250, ZXR, GSXR1000, Ducati 1198, ZX10R, Norton SG1 & SG2, SV650, CBR600 and more from 1998 through to 2014. Winning short circuit championships at Thundersport GB, Wirral 100 and MRO. A podium finisher in the National Superstock Cup during a couple of full seasons on the BSB scene. A three time Anglesey Grand winner, setting and holding the international circuit lap record for several seasons. Campaigning in real road racing at the Isle of Man TT, winning the Privateers Championship in 2011 after several top ten finishes. Riding and developing the factory Norton in the first two TT’s of the factory’s come-back to racing he took a credible 18th in the Superbike TT in 2013.

All of the above leads to an enormous amount of experience which Ian is keen to pass on. Anyone can benefit from trackday training from a raw novice to track regular to budding racer.

One-to-one training sessions start in the paddock, with discussions about bike set-up and goals for the day. A general day sees Ian following the customer on track, using an action camera to capture the session, once he has established areas of improvement (braking, racing line, body position etc) Ian will pass and lead the customer to demonstrate and highlight these areas. On return to the paddock the footage is played back, during the session debrief, to assist and guide with clear goals for the sessions to follow. Each session plays out to a similar routine, but varies to each individuals needs. Some need more leading, others prefer to be followed and instructions passed on after the session. Ultimately we are keen to see you achieve your goals whether they be to get faster, safer or just to help you through your first time on track.

Everyone has something to learn and Ian’s calm personality gives great platform from which to get this information across.

At the end of the day the footage from each of the sessions is copied onto a memory stick for you to take away. This gives even more value to your day, watching this back, after the day, helps to lock the information in and also serves as a reminder of what a great time you can have on circuit!

A recent customer booked training at Oulton Park with goal of getting into the “under 2 minute” bracket. A really good ride saw improvement in many areas but most notably through the faster sections (Island bend, Druids and Cascades). The video footage showed lap-times with an 8 second improvement and sub-two minutes, achieving the customer’s time goal but also seeing him finish the day with a much safer, smoother ride. “Worth every penny!” were his parting words as he booked another training day at a different circuit.

Prices range from as little as £250, plus the cost of Ian’s track time. We are also able to offer a two for one price. Two riders being given instruction in alternate sessions at the same trackday, obviously this will halve the tuition time but gives an opportunity to split the costs with another party.

Please just call for further details. We will happily set a package to suit your needs.
